MEET THE PHARMACIST
Manhar is a prescribing pharmacist with a specialty in Bio-Identical Hormone Therapy for menopausal women
Manhar graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2008 and holds her Additional Prescribing Authorization and Injection Certification from the Alberta College of Pharmacy. She has completed the Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) specialization course from PCCA and has been focusing on women’s menopausal health over the last 3 years. Manhar is excited to see how progressive personalized medicine can help her patients when it comes to menopausal health. She prioritizes enhancing the quality of life and fostering long-term relationships with her patients.
What is Bio-Identical Hormone Therapy (BHRT)
Bio-Identical Hormone Therapy is utilized to address menopausal symptoms in women due to the natural decline in hormone levels with age. BHRT is hormone replacement therapy that is IDENTICAL to the hormones naturally produced by the body. While Premarin, a common menopausal medication, is similar to natural estrogen, it is obtained from the urine of pregnant horses, making it chemically different from human estrogen. By introducing BHRT to our body, there should be no side effects as long as it is administered within the correct therapeutic window.

Do I need a Referral
The process
Ongoing Care
Follow-up appointments are typically 30 minutes.
If bio-identical hormone therapy is prescribed, any adjustments in doses are made at this time to make the patient’s drug therapy specifically catered to their needs.
Hormones take 6-8 weeks to reach a steady state in a person’s body, thus follow ups are typically in that time interval.
Once a patient is on their unique ideal dosage, a quick check in every 3 months is requested at no charge to ensure a patient continues to be at their optimal dose.
Consultation does not guarantee a prescription for BHRT will be provided to the patient.
Follow Up Remuneration: $100 per visit
There's no referral necessary.
Some patients get a referral from a naturopath and other healthcare professionals while others are referred by past clients.
New patients are welcome who are ready to take first steps towards their menopausal health.

First Appointment
The initial assessment is a 45-60 minute consultation.
We will take you through a detailed intake process and review your medical, physical, and nutritional health in addition to your family history.
Each patient is unique and thus it is important to assess all aspects of their life to ensure symptoms patients are experiencing are not due to other factors aside from female sex hormones.
Lab work may be ordered as part of the assessment which is covered by Alberta Health Services.
Initial Consultation: $250

THE STORY
My name is Manhar Cheema, also known by my family as Mana. This nickname has become something very special to me over my life, and I would like to share the story with you.
As a child, it was sweet and endearing. I always liked it, and felt closer to those that used it, never knowing why. As an adult, I came to find that the word Mana has special meaning in various cultures. In Polynesian culture, it is the concept of a life force or a universal healing energy. It is often referred to as powerful and spiritual. In humans, it’s what sustains us, and keeps us alive and healthy. In Indian culture, Mana's Sanskrit origin refers to our inherent tendencies, and our natural desires and drive.
As I moved into my career as a Pharmacist, I realized that this nickname could not be any more appropriate for me. The idea that Mana can be found in all of us, and shared to work towards better health was so moving to me. This wonderful notion that we need to take care of our own Mana and be gentle and helpful to the life force of others is a beautiful concept. Not to mention, you can heal and be healed. My nature is that I want to help people. This holds true in my career, my family and my personal life. I'm always the first one to say yes when someone needs help. My joy comes from caring for other people.
I founded Mana Health with the vision of taking my background as a Pharmacist, and combining it with my deep love of helping people; to enable clients to find their best health. I know that it takes more than a prescription to set someone's health on the right path. You need advice, time with an expert, and someone who cares deeply about your future health. My goal is to create an environment where we are taking this concept of Mana and respecting our health and wellness. I use my knowledge as a pharmacist, and my beliefs in complete health to help you.
One last fun fact. My maiden name is Powar. With a name like Mana Powar, I feel like health was the perfect path for me.
